Count Down to Wedding!

Oh my... talk about stress levels.  Three days and counting until my youngest is a married woman!  My oldest daughter will be flying in tonight & here tomorrow and I am sure a melt down will occur in the house sometime, it has been several years since all of us have been together.  Poor Percy.. grins.. hope he can handle us!  Things have been so crazy, last minute details, rushing to finish projects... I have been worn out by the end of the day, I am asleep by the time my head hits the pillow.  Every minor annoyance or problem is magnified tenfold it seems, but we are working through them and things seem to be falling into place.  I only wish for her to have the wedding of her dreams, to be "a princess" that she desires, and to find true happiness with her man for many years to come.

Newer Popup!

Well I convinced the hubster that a NEWER popup would be wonderful!  One with lights and heat, real beds, hot water and a POTTY!  since it had the option for cable hookup too the hubster was sold.. Teehee Like he even had a chance!  We have named the new portable home "A MISTY STAR" combinations of the names of the love ones we leave at home.  Buddy loves it, he even has his own side of the trailer AND his own bed.  Needless to say, when a sixty pound puppy wants to cuddle.. there isn't much you can do without some assistance.  at least he has his own pillow.

Our maiden voyage in this one was wonderful!  Went to a nearby KOA had the icecream social every night right before the evening hotub soak after the kids in the campground snuggled down in their bed.  Pure bliss!  Wandered about the local areas, rediscovered some we knew and just had a blast.

Look forward to next summer... since Fall is fast approaching.

Summer Project

Have you ever seen those fantastic little pop up campers that fold into a tiny little trailer neat and tidy but have every comfort you could ever want when you go camping.  Yeah.. I wanted one of those.  What we got was a 1977 rag tent hooked up to a little box on wheels.  That needs A LOT of LOVE.

So far I have HAND sewn the seams along the bottom edge that "holds" the tent to the trailer and keeps the shape. The screens will need to be replaced as well as several other things that I insist on being done before I even think about sleeping inside it.

The good things are, it doesn't leak, so that is a major plus.  With some TLC it should be fairly cute when we are finished with it. Well better than sleeping on the ground at least.

I planned to sew new cushion covers in retro looking material as bright as I can find it!  As well as making some privacy screens for the bed areas.
It came with a stove that you can attach outside if you like, but of course I wouldn't use it in fear of catching the whole thing on fire.  I think I may have convinced my hubby to make some different cabinets for storage and STEPS so I can get in and out of it without breaking my neck. I have already had him change the tail lights and replace the door handle.

OH  I totally forgot about the fog/sun burn I got when working on it this past weekend!  Saturday was a beautiful day, but a bit windy and just a hint of red, so we worked on it when we could. But Monday was calm, cool one of those perfect days for working outside.  Needless to say, you can get sunburned through the fog!

Relay for Life

Well, we survived another Relay for Life all nighter.   Our team renamed itself in memory of our former captain who passed away last year.  Usually our team is called "Friends of the Coquille's", but this year we were " Wayne's Walkers" and everyone actually showed up AND walked the time they scheduled for.  It was forcasting rain all weekend, but it held out until the early morning of the last day. Although we didn't quite meet our goal from last years, we still did pretty good.  Our team this year was a combination of tribes, and the theme for the Relay was "Rounding up a cure".   We avoided the stereotype of being the "Indians" and had a covered wagon for our camp site instead.  My husband wanted so badly to put a bunch of arrows in the side, but I wouldn't let him because it would be hard for the kids there to resists grabbing them.. LOL  All in all it was a good evening, plenty of activites, and a lot of snoring in surrounding tents.

Basket Weaving Fun

Ok Ok.. I will update my blog!.. sheesh

Lately I haven't been beading but working on some basketry projects. We had an opportunity to head down to Happy Camp CA and learn from a "master weaver"who is wonderful to work with! I completed a baby's rattle that we called a Bam Bam because it is twice the size it should have been and would cause harm to any infant that would try to use it. I guess I shouldn't have watched the news about the huge baby being born in Mexico (what was it?.. 14 1/2 lbs)? LOL.. or maybe I was thinking too much about being in "Big Foot Country".. giggles.

All in all the rattle turned out nice. I will add photos once I have them downloaded. Currently I am working on a open weave basket made out of hazel and spruce roots and a purse made out of Cedar bark and sedge with beargrass overlay. More later when I have photos!
